Information
Julia is a graphic designer and printmaker from Austria. Her work is guided by a love for the beauty in imperfection and misregistration of print. She designs with a touch of nostalgia, and allows her digital designs freedom in how they translate in different forms. Julia is driven by exploration and experimentation, using bold colours with new and distinct techniques. The designer now runs an independent Berlin-based studio, Don't Try Anything New - which focuses on printmaking and design, specialising in Riso printing.

Splash Screen 2023
Having been commissioned to create a zine for the 2023 Adobe Splash screen for InDesign, Julia Schimautz set out to show the easy and endless possibilities of the programme for the printing process.
This playful handbound zine is a showcase of colour theory and Riso-printing, and of the creative potential of InDesign.
Risography is originally from Japan and Julia loves how experimental it allows her to be. Using InDesign’s full scope of tools - from layout, grid systems, to typography - Risography was the perfect medium to explore just how fun using the programme could be.
